The Umang Police Awards 2013 took place on Jan. 5 at Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai. The charity show is organized by the Mumbai Police itself, where the artists perform for free. The police invite everyone, including their families, VVIPs and other invitees. This time, the show was sold to Sony TV who will be telecasting and promoting it.

The main host was Manish Paul. It was attended and partly hosted by Deepika Padukone, Vidya Balan, Shahid Kapoor, Ajay Devgn, Sajid Khan and Randeep Hooda among others. There were performances by stars including Shahrukh Khan, Salman Khan, Ranvir Singh, Priyanka Chopra, Katrina Kaif, Anushka Sharma, Jacqueline Fernandes, Shreyas Talpade, Farhan Akhtar, Prabhudeva, Parineeti Chopra, Alia Bhatt, Siddharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan among others. The singers included Shaan, Shreya Ghoshal, Sajid Wajid, Salim Suleiman, Himesh Reshamiya, Kailash Kher, Sunidhi Chauhana and Sukhwinder Singh among others. The comedians included Raju Shrivastav, Krushna Abhishek and Sudesh Lahiri.

The show, which was attended by a crowd of almost 10,000, started in the evening and ended by midnight. Arjun Kapoor performed first, where he interacted with the police. He taught some kids a few dance moves of a song from his movie Ishaqzaade. All the actors, singers and comedians mentioned previously performed. The finale saw Akshay Kumar playing his character as cop ‘Rowdy Rathore.’ An AV plays which shows a chase sequence of him chasing down robbers. After the AV ends, a police van breaks into the stage where he captures them and throws them off the stage. They then break into a dance.

It is a part of Maharashtra Police and has the primary responsibilities of law enforcement and investigation within the limits of Mumbai. The Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance (UMANG), is a Government of India all-in-one single unified secure multi-channel multi-platform multi-lingual multi-service freeware mobile app for accessing over 841 services through 127 department central and state government services in multiple Indian languages over Android, iOS, Windows and services such as AADHAR, DigiLocker, Bharat Bill Payment System, PAN, EPFO services, PMKVY services, AICTE, CBSE, tax and fee or utilities bills payments, education, job search, tax, business, health, agriculture, travel, birth certificates, e-District, passport and much more. This a key component of Digital India government initiative to make all traditional offline government services available 24/7 online through single unified app. App is initially available in 13 language and will replace or complement 1500 apps launched by the government so far. Progressively more services will be brought online. This e-Gov service can be accessed via multiple channels, such as mobile app, IVR, website, etc. User numbers will be boosted by the roll out of BharatNet. Users can Create and update Profile, Sort & Filter through categories and services, or search to access relevant services while on the move.
