Can super-thin Anushka Sharma wear a lehenga-choli?
The babe was spotted on the sets of Nach Baliye 5 recently, wearing a gorgeous Masaba lehenga-choli. But did it look right on her?

Anushka Sharma was recently spotted in an out-and-out ethnic avatar. Although the Masaba lehenga-choli she opted for is simply gorgeous, the babe unfortunately is failing to do justice to it ‘coz of the fact that she is way too skinny. Traditional outfits look the best when worn by curvaceous chicks. Since Indian outfits are so elegant and there’s this whole process of ‘showing a bit’ and ‘hiding a tad’ involved, being a li’l plump just adds to the fun of wearing an ethnic ensemble.

Although our only gripe is Anushka’s weight here, we are absolutely in love with the vibrant crinkled ghagra, the pink dupatta with the gold gota hem and the intricate blouse. And that messy side braid looks gorgeous on A. So start having your protein shakes and chocolate bars before you step into the traditional garb – only if you are super skinny, like Ms S. And just when you are all ready, here are options you must try.

Lehenga
Lehnga or langa, (also known as Ghagra or gagra, Chaniya, Pavadai and Lacha) is a form of full ankle-length skirt worn by women from India which is long, embroidered and pleated. It was worn in old Hindu tradition and was believed to awaken the spiritual chakras of the body. It is worn as the bottom portion of a Gagra choli or Langa Voni. It is secured at the waist and leaves the lower back and midriff bare. In the Indian subcontinent, various types of traditional embroidery work are done on lehenga, with Gota patti embroidery being one of popular types for the festivals and weddings. In the earlier times, girls would wear Ghagra-choli. Today, this attire has become outdated. Even then, in States like Gujarat and Rajasthan, young girls and women still wear lehnga; it is the traditional dress of women belonging to the Bettiah Christian community of Champaran and is also worn by Marwari women. Lehnga is one of the appropriate garments as per the Hindu culture and considered a sattvik garment at the spiritual level as well.

Ghagra choli
Gagra choli or ghagra choli, which is also known as lehenga choli and locally as chaniya choli, is the traditional clothing of women from Indian Subcontinent, notable in Indian states of Rajasthan, Gujarat,[3] Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir, as well as in Nepal. In Punjab it was traditionally worn with the kurti and salwar. It is a combination of the gagra or lehenga (long skirt) and the choli (blouse), however in contemporary and modern usage lehenga choli is the more popular and widely accepted term by fashion designers, trend setters, and boutiques in South Asia, since ghagra is synonymous with the half-slip worn as an undergarment below the sari.
